FAQs

What are your fees?

Individual lessons: £35 per half hr. £60 per hour.

Groups/Workshops/Single classes discussed individually according to the number of participants and hours required.

Payment will be by BACS to my bank account.

A term's fee may be paid in two instalments. The first at the start of term, the second at half term.

An invoice will be sent.

Usually 1 term, of approximately 10-12 weeks half hour lessons, is sufficient for Grades: Introductory - Grade 5, and possibly 6.

But Grades 7 and  8 will need a weekly one hour lesson which may stretch to two terms.

Do you teach online?

Yes, via Zoom.

First lessons will all be online, and many will continue to be so.  This has proven to be the easiest and most convenient way for many people, including myself. I am willing to teach in person if requested, but often not until the date of an exam or audition etc draws near, when it is certainly very helpful. These lessons will need to be within the areas of Wandsworth, Putney, Southfields, Wimbledon or if necessary, Central London.

Travelling time will incur a cost of £10 for Zones 1or 2, & £15 for Zone 3.

What about safeguarding?

I am very aware of safeguarding, and absolutely require an adult to be within hearing distance of the lesson, though not necessarily in the same room as this may well inhibit the pupil.

Lessons may be recorded if online. Every lesson should take place downstairs in a family room and not in the pupil's own room.

I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

A full half term's notice must be given in writing in advance if you wish to stop lessons, otherwise payment will be taken in lieu of notice.

When planning lessons with me at the start of a term, please look ahead and take into account any days when your child will be unable to attend a lesson that week so that it will not be timetabled in.

24 hours notice should be given when cancelling a lesson, otherwise the fee will be payable. If I am ill/unable to teach, I will either reschedule with you or refund the lesson fee.

If the lesson is online, and the pupil fails to join me promptly, I shall wait five minutes, but then sign off and the fee will be charged as usual.

How do I know my child's progress?

Naturally I give all instructions and guidance to pupils during the lesson, but I will email you regularly with updates on their progress, including  what they have achieved, how well they are doing, but also what they need to work on a little more. You will also receive details on the work I have given them to do in preparation for the following lesson. Where this includes learning lines, it is always very appreciated if you are able to help at home.

I send copies of speeches/poems and for older pupils, texts they need to read for background learning, as Word docs, and so it is necessary to have an available printer at home or nearby.

What ages and levels do you teach?

I am experienced and happy to teach any age group, from young children, through to adults.

LAMDA exams are available to children, students and adults,  and my tuition covers all grades up to Diploma in Verse and Prose, Devising, Acting, and Shakespeare.

Drama is an extraordinary key for anyone, whatever their age, which can unlock a voice, build confidence, and lead to an ability to stand sure of oneself, to speak clearly, and with authority and assurance..
